08.14.08 | Private Loan Consolidation

Consolidation is a great debt management tool. It allows you more time to repay your loan(s). You can generally extend your loan terms out to 25 or 30 years from the initial 10-year marker, which means you can dramatically lower your monthly payment.

Another good thing these days are the lower interest rates. When the economy is slumping interest rates tend to get cut. As a byproduct of these rate cuts (lower interest rates) you the consumer benefit, which is why it’s a great time to consolidate your private student loans.

With one convenient low payment, no prepayment penalties, and lower interest rates it is the perfect time to consolidate.

I graduated in 1995, owe about as much as I started with, and am struggling greatly. Is it possible to consolidate a private student loan and make it federally insured? What are other options that I may have.

    Thank You,
    Aaron

I was extremely disappointed in my consolidation. I told the consolidator many times I do not want anything to do with Sallie Mae ( Over and Over .. and then again). So when it was all said and done they were a front for Sallie Mae and my loans were through them.. So mad.

I am desperately trying to consolidate my private student loans. I recently graduated law school and I am trying to remove my co-signer off the original laws and want to consolidate my private loans. The problem is I have bad credit and seem to get the run around from everyone I call. Who should I contact that deals with PRIVATe student loan consolidation?
